BriBri,
Our first big trip was the Nullarbour in 1974, in an HR Premier. We did that same trip 6 times in a variety of 2WD's before the road was sealed (300
miles of bulldust). Since then we've criss-crossed Oz in a variety of vehicles, only in the last 15 years in a 4WD.
You'll know when you're on a track that requires 4WD, you just know. (All you need to do is figure out if yours is 4x2 or 4x4, before proceeding.)
I still remember the TVs series when Jack Absolom did the
Birdsville Track in a circa 1970 Sigma. Not something I'd try myself, but the point is, if you have a 4WD and you know how to use it ..you can go anywhere you bloody
well want to go in Oz!
And ..I'm a dog lover, ..But do yourselves a favour, leave the dog at home. It'll stop you from going into so many great
places, including every National
Park in Oz.
