Don't know about post 50030, but I do know about this:

Been out of Forum action for awhile doing ‘secret Lucy business’, such as organising LPG injection for the Troopy (Ms Lucy)

Decision Catalyst:

Had the water tank out for repairs on a split seam after the infamous Warraweena Soiree and after collecting repaired tank for install I conducted an inspection of the water tank cavity to see if there was anything else that had to be done/repaired/renewed prior to re-installing the subject tank.

The underneath area was for the tank was just humongous (220l stainless steel tank) which I have never ever had to refill on any trip.

The light bulb went on – Research LPG possibility – which I did on a Wednesday, commencing 1.00pm.

Well Trendsetters, the responses I received were just flabbergasting in their paucity of interest, knowledge and enthusiasm for such a project

So I basically was ready to give the idea away when on my way to something else I passed an old Service station that had been divided into two businesses (1) LPG installations and (2) Fuel dispensing.

It is close by my place and I had always thought to myself that I would never ever take my vehicle to ‘that’ place for anything LPG, as it looked pretty ‘ordinary’

Whatever, I pull in and find the LPG gas bloke, Yep! He can do it, did one last week but will only do it on a turbo charged diesel. He has a quick look – not a problem, gives me a guesstimate price, however would have to give a confirmation price after contacting supplier of a Kit for the Troopy (1hz) motor. Can install in a weeks time.

From our discussion and the procession of cootas turning up with LPG problems on their vehicles (not of his/LPG fitter’s doing or making) and watching him drop everything including me to fix same within a matter of mins, including dudes who had been playing with ‘chips’ on their ECU’s and stuffed it all up, I decided he was the going to do the install, and subsequently booked it in for the following Wednesday . The time was now 4.30pm

Next Day (Thursday) he rang me with a confirmed price which had risen a tad from the guesstimate, and I confirmed install to go ahead.

A couple of hours later he rang back and said that his install job for tomorrow (Friday) had cancelled and rescheduled to another date and could I drop the vehicle off at 8.00am in the morning. Yes! Can.
Friday vehicle dropped off and I tell them that there is no hurry and to take their time. Late Friday I receive a call – they need to finish off on Monday morning – not a problem

Monday I Go there around 11.00am and it is finished, and I am invited to take it for a test drive which I do. I am then advised to go to particular Medicare office close by that is familiar with the Installers signature and accreditation.

Next day Tuesday I go to Vicroads and have the Registration amended/updated and then go to the nominated Medicare office and lodge the rebate claim. Not a question or hiccup at either office. Very smooth indeed.

The following Monday the $2000 rebate appears in our account.

Now how easy is that.

The Water tank has been taken back to be reduced by approx 2/3rds and havea new pickup and drain socket installed. It will be refitted sometime soon.

Well done!

So how much % lpg does it inject? What better economy do you expect? How many litres LPG tank? Does one tank of LPG last for same time as one fill of diesel? Does it increase power at all?

So many questions! Might be a goer on the Prado if that sort of rebate is on offer.

Cheers

Seems to me it is a race between you and that quiet man from the Yorke Peninsula as to who has the most gadgets. You will never be able to sell the Troopy now!!! Anyway, good luck with it.

Cheers

I have always been curious as to the increase in HP you get when you have an already worked motor. I know yours is a tad above the standard 1HZ so give me the nuts and bolts....who much did it increase HP and Torque. Are you happy or is that a silly question?

Thanks for any info,
Trevor.

Well Well Mr Lucy,

You now nearly have a good vehicle, all you have to do now is change the motor and get rid of that smelly diesel stuff and run it on just the LPG Stuff and you will have really joined the 21st century LOL
