Truckster (Vic)
Well we are heading that way, 2 convoys, but from what I've read theres about 8 other convoys headin there too! might be quieter staying home
Not really planning much, depends on weather and out large convoy (8 cars - would have been happier with 4) and travelling.. we have 3
places pinpointed for night 1 but again depends on travel time, and the 3 petrol cars in the convoy...
Will head to shearers 1/4s again - site of Gathering few yrs back...
Can anyone give a logical explaination as to WHY the
Border Track closes from Oct to AFTER
easter? I said Logical reason, not Parks reasons...
probably see many there :(

God Dam Truckster,
Glad I'm heading north on Friday, all these foreigners in the area..
LOL
The reason for the track closure is surposed to be safety, as its only one way they worry that if a fire starts people may be trapped, problem is if they left the fire tracks open that run east to west through the
park then there would be no problem but in their infinate wisdom they have closed these... You Figure

Don't forget the Garmin with T4A installed . all the tracks are in it,
Have a good time out and watch out for the roots sticking out into the wheel tracks .

We spend 3 or 4 weekends there each year, it is interesting how it changes with the seasons, enjoy, we are lucky it is so close, Shearer's Quarters are about 70 km away.

Not far away is the amazing Mungo NP, IMHO much more interesting and probably more user friendly.

Truckster,
That part of the track is in SA and managed by NPWS, we were in the area November last year and it was closed. Reason given - Fire Ban season.
Also be aware that you cannot have fires in Ngarkat NP for the same reason.
Any further info, try
Lameroo NPWS office, it is on their area.
Regards
