Hi all I'm heading onto Fraser on Monday morning from rainbow beach ,I went there 2 yrs ago and had a great time but it was only for 4 days and really saw little of the island so we are going for 7 days and dilli village is our base camp ,I just wanted to know if much has changed as we were told that they are closing some of the eastern beach and that some rules have changed and can I still take the L/C up to the north of the island as we didn't get there last time ?? looking forward to hearing from some of you soon .

Regards John.

The closure of Hook Point hasn't happened yet and yes you can still go right up the top.

See you around... I'm up there on Saturday for a week, camping north of Orchid Beach. Can't wait!

Hi Johhnyboy

I just come off the island last Saturday. Pretty crazy up there at the moment with school hols, so take it easy as there are lots of trucks moving around.Hook Point open and new local member is reviewing the situation about closing this part of the beach. The inland track (Hook to Dilli) was done up by the EPA, but trashed during the huge rains of last month. Have to go around bypass tracks at Happy Valley and Poyungan Rocks at all except dead low.Indian Head quite soft and churned up - and track to Orchid a little soft in a few places, but you should be fine if not towing and have tyres right. Ngkala Rocks track washed out a little and have to rock hop a bit on southern approach. Track pretty soft (as usual) and northern side involves a bit of rock negotiation mid tide up.

Cheers
