Hi all,

The posts and opinions on this forum have been a great source of info and re-thinking before making purchases for my 4wd. I hope i can get some feedback on my query before the latest hard earned outlay of cash

Having just returned from the Tanami i decided on a much needed set of new shockies for my '91 80 series..went for OME but please no more opinions except good ones ..they are bought and paid for already :) Whilst in the shop i was informed one of the injectors was gone. Its only just had a good 300,000km service in which they were tested but i guess it was time for one to go. I had noticed a rough start and reduced pulling power in the last few days.

My question is..do you need to replace them all? Im looking at about $65 a pop which adds up if they all need to be changed. I guess its just going to turn into another expensive better safe than sorry decision as im often remote and am no mechanic.

Thanks
Richard

Take them all out and give for service/recalibration to good reputable "diesel fuel systems only" factory. Ask them to change springs as well (5 bucks per spring). You got back virtually brand new injectors.

Direct answer to your question is: "No. It is not a bright idea to change/service only one injector"

Cheers

Hi Richard,
Yes it is time to repair them all,and for a 1HZ that has done 300000klms you have done well ,most likley you have a glow plug gone with your start problems also the 1Hz injector pump has a problem with the automatic advance which causes low power there is a mod for that.I tell people injectors are like light bulbs once one goes the others are not far behind

What happens with the 1HZ injector pumps made in 90/91 is that the advance in the pumps wear and the pump advances too quickly ,the pump is removed and a new piston ,2 x springs, 1x advance housing is fitted but of course to do all this the pump has to be completley over hauled cost is about 1400.00 including R/R

if it sounds a bit rough with 1 cylinder doing less work than the other 5, how will it run when 5 are doing less than the other 1?
