I have been told by a few people that the water outlet is going off at the moment on Fraser Island the only problem is I forgot to ask where it is and was hoping some of you guys can shed some light on the subject and also do I need to stress much about getting to the top of the island as I have also been told that it is a bit hairy getting up there Im not keen about getting into a predicament on a trip that will cost dearly if things go pear shaped I think Im prepared I have a 2'' lift on my L/C and have just bought a hand winch ,snatch block , etc as well as my other recovery bag Im trying to keep this post breef but its not working is it LOL!! Im all ears guys and I leave tomorrow morningso Im getting VERY excited.

Regards John.

As I said yersterday, I have just come off the island. You will have no problems if you just take it easy. I have just hauled an 18ft boat to and from Waddy Point. The water coming out of the creeks is a little higher than normal. The biggest ones being toward the bottom of the island. You will pick them as they are tea tree stained. Just head low with them and cross slowly - they are only 30cm deep. Family still on island and they said a bit of light rain this morning with a storm expected tonight, so sand should pack down a little. Your worst part of the trip to the tip is Ngkala Rocks. There are rocks exposed at the southern approach - your cruiser with 2" lift will eat it - the sand over the track is soft, but just use high first and get to it. Biggest advice is let your tyres down - most vehicles that get stuck are from running highway pressures.

Don't stress about it as it is all easy. The Cape is the best part of the island - heaps of fish up there at the moment as well. Have fun and wish I was back up there

Cheers

Thanx Mate, I'm just gettin a bit paranoid because a few people have said the same thing as a matter of fact one guy I spoke to said a bloke in his group lost a $100,000 Sahara a couple of months ago bogged it and couldnt recover it before the tides changed and he said that he has pics of him fishing off it !!!
mate If I do that I might as well cut my own #%*# off as the wife has said she will do it if that happens LOL :( I will get out the map and check out the spots you mentioned and thanx again.

Kind Regards John.

The only people that lose trucks are those that take stupid risks. Travel 3 hours either side of low (we could travel at high tide between Waddy and Nkgala there is that much sand on the northern part of the island at the moment). There are bypass tracks around all rocks these days - if in doubt go around - adds five minutes to the trip. If you get bogged there are plenty about to offer a tow - just return the favour.

Police active on the island and picking particularly drink driving and no seat belts over school hols - so drink moderately if you are driving and wear your belt - they will fine you if caught.

Cheers

Was up there a couple of months ago and did the whole island thing. Trip up to Sandy Cape was easy and not a problem was encountered.. Travel at low tide, lower tyre pressures to 20-25 psi use the alternate track around the rocks and you will have a terrific time.Camping at the cape is great so if you have time hang out there for a couple of days. The lighthouse is a bit of a walk but good scenery and view of a large sand blow. Enjoy!!
