does anyone know why no permits r being issued for surveyer generals corner at the moment? or when they will be re issued? and the cost?

Geoffp, We we were out there 18 months ago, a local guide had to take you down from Giles . Even with local contacts, no locals wanted to guide us down (you can not go down there without a guide), its a lot easer to take hand outs and I suppose if you don't issue permits they won't be bothered by people wanting them to go down.

P.S. I have meet a lot of really nice Aborigional people in my travels and I hope what I say Is wrong. But sme communitys need a kick up the .........

We visited there last September. Applied for and received a permit. Made the necessary phone call as per instructions and picked up our guide from the Wingellina Community . Paid the guide $20 , as per the permit. No problems. Must admit it took 6 weeks for the application to be processed and returned by mail so you need to allow plenty of time.
