Woohoo! I just had a call from the insurance company and, after a lot of procrastination, they're going to pay for the panel which I've already replaced.

Rather surprising really given that it was an aftermarket add-on and it wasn't declared on the policy. Thanks NRMA.

If its only the glass, take it to a glass glazer and they will put another sheet of glass over the top, only if no moister has got in. I bleep tered ours and they fixed it. Works well.

Depends on the panel type....if its a thin film panel (brown type) the panel is on the back of the glass and depending on the crack direction it will either not work at all (cracked full length ALONG line of cells) or will work at reduced capacity (crack across full width of cells).

What M&L said stands though for the "blue" cell panels :-) - a smear of silicone keeps the water out till you can get to a glazier
