Evening all

Last weekend the Alpine 4WD Challenge was held at Dinner Plains between Mt Hotham and Omeo.

I worked there on Saturday and Sunday as the Vehicle Controller ( ie Parking inspector, ticket dick, etc etc)

Always wanted to be one of those 'all powerful' pajeros. (The power - oooooooh the power of it all).

Wasn't too hard, just had to keep the Spectator vehicles , Comp Trucks, Service Crew trucks and ancillary service vehicles (catering, Medical, recovery etc etc ) apart from each other for the first half of the day and once things settled down, a bit of spectator safety compliance, on the Comp Stages.

Anyway - on Sunday whilst working the 'selection' gate I noticed briefly a vehicle parking nearby with am Ex-oz sticker on the back, and made a mental note to say hello to the driver/owner of same. However there was a rush of vehicles and people and I promptly forgot all about it.

Sooooooooooo! who were you ( the back end of a silver 4WD) and were there any others up there.

No! you whacker, not a chance in hell

I was up to my armpits in vehicles that all had some some sort of reason, excuse etc etc as to why the should be able to 'drive' down broken back mountain to the start areas.

Just saw the sticker on the rear of the subject vehicle as it disappeared into the parking area and I thought I'll say hello to those people when they come past.

Well that thought disappeared like the proverbial fart in gale as the deluge of punters descended upon me.
