Hello to all,
First time to (ExplorOz
forum) we are trying to find out were we could view OziExploror and or Track
ranger software before we purchase one of these products. Have downloaded OziExploror seems to complicated for our purpose as we are only weekend warriors.
Would be appreciated if anyone could take the time to let us view this software.

Like all software it would not be very if you could grasp it all in one sitting.
OziExplorer is a solid exercise to setup and then understand but once mastered it is very easy to use. Don't try to use all its capability in one go.
Coupled up to GPS and something like natmap raster maps it will easily show moving map for you. That is your position will stay in the centre of the screen and the map will move behind it to show exactly where you are anywhere in Australia.
Trackranger is similar to OziExplorer. It will be worthwhile to put up with the frustration etc on the first couple of goes but it becomes user friendly and easy to use especially with use.
UBD maps will also work on OziExplorer to show street level detail in major cities.
Later on after using it for a while you can proceed to waypoints - this where you nominate beforehand (planning a trip) where you want to go and Ozi helps you get there. The whole trip can be tracked on the map for later reference to show exactly where you went or for use if you have to backtrack.
Trust this helps.

Darren - you can download a copy of Oziexplorer from Des
Newman's website and use it as long as you like. The demo version has just about all the functions of the registered version and if you decide to by it you simply have to enter your registration number (from Des) and off you go.

There is a time limit when using Oziexplorer, also not all the functions are accessible when in demo mode
