Tinny on 120 series Prado

Wondering if anyone has carried a tinny on top of a 120 Prado ? I have H D Rhino bars ex my 105 series LCruiser. Can get mounts to suit ,will remove factory bars to get stronger mounting but concerned re 100kg loading recommendation. Boat weighs aroun 75kg..Any experiences ,reports welcomed ..Many Thanks

The Kedron caravan boys have done it twice in their videos. The first in 'Free Camping the Outback' and the latest on the Fraser video. That said, they weren't heir vehicles, just loaners from Csi Fleet Toyota. I have a 120 and haven't put a boat on, rather I am putting it on my CT.

You may want to talk to both Toyota and to a roof rack specialist to see what they have to say. My (limited) understanding is that the 100kg limit may be increased if load shared across the whole roof mounts. This then reducing the load per attachment point to considerably less.

Thanks for your reply roblin..On the face of it it seems very few have carried a boat on a Prado..I have all the Kedron videos except the F Island one.I have viewed them many times..Cannot carry the boat on my camper as it is a Tvan.I would not part with that..May try and perservere with the rhino bars..

We have fittted many of our boat loaders to Prados - including the Gall boys from Kedron Caravan's Fraser Coast trip - without any problems whatsoever. Toyota's advice to us is 150kg on Prado and 200kg on Landcruisers.
