Anyone using Mickey Thompson MTZ's. I'm about to fit a set of tyres next week and would like some feed back on these.
Cheers Dave...

I have 265/70/17 MTZs on a second set of rims for "playing" in my D4D Prado.
In the the mud they are fantastic and I have been pleasantly suprised how good they are in soft sand (at least as good as my HT tyres).
I mounted them on a second set of rims because the Prado is my wife's daily drive and though she would not like driving on the MTZs. But under 80kmh there is little difference in handling between them and the HT tyres (Grandtreks) and the noise while noticable, is not intrusive. At highway speeds the steering is the slighly vage and the noise from the roof rack is more than the tyres.
In fact my wife is happy driving on the MTZs. But I still change them over so that I will get maximum off road use from them.
For me the choice came down to MTZ or MTR and everyhting I could find indicated that thet the MTZ have a slight advantage in all areas except expected kms.

I'm running 285 x 75 ST Coopers at the moment, not 100% happy & think MTZ's would be better.

Over on outerlimits there was a thread where it was 50/50 on who was happy and unhappy with them.. most that liked them were the 'looked cool' people..

WHy people would have these as a second set is a bit strange.. surely you would go all out for an extreme for second tire set instead of just a normal MT...

Hi Dave,

Thought I might find you here! Have you decided which way you are going to go with your tyres? Forgot to get your email address before we left - hope you had a nice weekend & a safe trip home. You can get me on rivenoak10@yahoo.com.au.

Hi Dave

Mate how did you go with your MTZ's, your picture shows you are currently or were running Cooper St's which I have found to extremely reliable. But I was looking at a set of MTZ's for a HJ60 cruiser I am doing up and was wondering if you had purchased them and if so how they were going?

I have decided to run the Coopers out before putting the MTZ's on.The Coopers have chipped a lot & two have small splits in the side walls,so I thought I would try MTZ's as I've heard good re ports on them.I'll probably change mine in about 3 weeks time.
Cheers Dave...
