Mountain
Creek road is mainly for local access & is definately not a short cut to
Canberra or South Coast even if coming from Wee
Jasper. Go to Yass & stick to the blacktop...oldbaz.

Mountain
Creek is a black top drive from
Canberra to the Wee Jasper/Yass Rd. Gravel from
the junction to
Wee Jasper. If you are coming up from Nowra, it is a good drive through
Nerriga to Queanbeyan then out to Uriarra Xing and then onto Mountain Ck. There is an alternative track through 2 sticks and Doctors flat. If you have Oziexplorer I can probably find a track plot file for the trip from Queanbeyan to
Wee Jasper. Like someone else said, it is not quicker but it sure is a prettier drive.
Cheers
Pete

The NRMA travel planer suggests the quickest trip from
Wee Jasper to Nowra is to go through Yass, down the Hume to the Illawarra Hwy and through Kangaroo Valley - distance 259km, time 3:29.
They give the shortest distance as your proposed route - Mtn Ck Rd and through
Nerriga - distance 256km, time 5:58.
This suggests you can travel the same distance, save 2 hours and not get lost in
Canberra.
