Next month we will be travelling via White Cliffs to Tibooburra and on to Innaminka. Can anyone tell me the condition of the road from Cameron's Corner across to the Strzelecki Track. We will be towing an off-road caravan behind a GU Patrol. Previous experience tells me that all is OK to Tibooburra and to Cameron's Corner but would like some info on roads further on. Also, is there any info out there on the road from Innaminka to Coongie Lakes please.

Kagey,

In late July the private road/Bore Track through Bollards Lagoon and up to Innaminka was in good condition and had a spectacular showing of wildflowers set against the bright red dunes in that area. Its probably a more interesting and more direct track to Innaminka. The road from Innaminka out to Coongie was pretty corrugated then - just take your time, adjust tyres and its OK.

Hi Shaker and thanks for your correction. With your help I will now be able to find it on the map at least.

Good luck with your trip. Keep an eye on the weathern up that way for the next few weeks. Yesterday Tib. 37c Wh.C. 37c Alice S. 37c Ernabella 34c as you can see the temps. are starting to climb. In another month or so it could be very hot. Just for info yet I'm sure you've considered temps. as you'll be travelling in warmer/hotter months.

We travelled from Innamincka to Coongie Lakes about 3-4 months ago. Day trip only - we left the van on the Town Common. We were on the track the day it opened just after closing due to rain. The track wasn't too bad - you just had to be careful when passing some of the wet spots - especially watching the height of some of the branches on the bypasses.. It would have been OK for our Trakmaster van with care. Coongie Lakes is a magnificent place. It is on our list of places to revisit for a good stay.

Kagey,

We travelled from Innamincka via Moomba then the road through Merty Merty to Cameron Corner about ten days ago.

We found the roads in good condition with some road works being done on the Strzelecki between Innamincka and the Merty Merty turn. There were a few patches of bulldust on the Merty Merty road but there were signs letting you know.

Enjoy your trip

Viv

Did trip last June. From Victoria to Bore Track on to Innamincka, then up to Coongie Lakes. Was towing my camper behind Hilux. One sandy, boggy spot on Bore track, but got through without any drama. Coongie Lakes beautiful. Track easy. Watch out for oncoming traffic on a couple of sand hills. Went back down to Flinders Ranges and met up with other OE travellers at Warraweena. That was fun.

Hi All, Thanks for the great responses. I didn't think that the Bore track would be a good way to go but from your info it may be just as good as the Merty Merty road. I would have liked to do this trip a little earlier in the year when it was cooler but that wasn't possible. We did do a trip to Yulara and the Alice in January a few years ago and found that as long as you keep the fluids up, the heat being quite dry, is very bearable. You also need to jump into any available water hole when possible. Thanks again for the very worthwhile info.

I came through there a few days ago and apart from a very large bulldust hole on the track with only sticks laid out on the ground it was a good road.....

Hi Mud crab, We will be up as far as Innamincka and Coongie Lakes early next month so I will probably hear what the conditions are like further on then. I will pass on anything we can find out.
