I have a 2006 TD Landcruiser with 17 Inch Alloys.

I need new All Terrain Tyres.

BFG dont have the exact replacement and the Tyre dealer has said that the larger LT28570R17 are too big and will rub the guards.

Can anyone please advise which size tyres are most suitable.

Thanks

Dave

Hi Dave,
I too have an 06 TD cruiser, and looking for good AT tyres that will fit - not much luck so far. Will be interesting to see what other members have to say on the matter.
Howard.

IFS strikes again.......

If it was coil sprung then it would be far less to get a small lift and all hunky-dory.

Macquarie 4x4 do a IFS kit (with diff spacers to keep all CV angles to factory spec) it is costly ($2900) but will allow 33" to fit.

Only other option is to find a set of 16" alloys off an earlier model and then fit 265/75 or 275/75 R16s which BFG do make, Cooper (but they are coopers.....) also.

Try 265/70R17. Slightly narrower and a small gain in diameter. This would probably have a positive effect on your speedo accuracy as they usually read slower than the indicated speed when standard.

You could also try what I did. Buy a 2nd hand set of Toyota IFS 16" steel rims and fit them out with a A/T or M/T tyre. I normally run on the bitumen with the 17" H/T tyres and swap to 16" M/T if we plan to drive offroad.

I did the same - fitted BFG A/T 265/70/17, and they seem to work well. Also have a spare set of 16" offset 60 rims, and am giving some thought to fitting 285/75/16 (either AT or MT) for any 'long' offroad trips.

Incidentally, did the Vic High Country with a mate last week who also has a 2006 TD, fitted with 265/70/17 - and absolutely no problems (altho as a desert deweller, I did get a little fed up with having to use the chainsaw all the time !!).

I have the 285/75R16 too. On the petrol V8 they do make the motor work harder requiring changes down to 4th on the auto. The TD will have no problems as they have more torque at cruising revs.
