Hey guys, I'm wondering if anyone here has had the same problem as I'm having with my Outlook and Vista.

Everytime I open my email it askes for the password, even when I tick the box to remember my password, it'll still ask for it the next time I open Outlook 2002.

Who else is having this problem? I've been told it's an issue with Microsoft Outlook 2002 and Vista but I thought it would've been fixed by now.

I've run updates and problem solving etc but it's still happening.

Any ideas?

If you are using Vista, try using Windows Mail v6.0 I do and don't have any problems whatsoever. I don't think Outlook 2002 is happy with Vista or vice-a-versa !

Or better still install Thunderbird. You can download it from this link free of charge. When you install it you are asked if you wish to import your mail and settings from Outlook, so there is no set up required to get it to run. Give it a try for a couple of days, you can always go to something else if you don't like it.

Microsoft have a few fixes online but the reality is unless you know what you are doing you can cause more pain than gain. I had the exact same problem and ended up reloading vista a few times till it took, as for vista it is one foot closer to the door and I am reverting back to XP Pro as I have heaps of problems with compatibility with other devices eg printer, camera etc.

good luck

Bret & Wayne

I uninstalled Vista as I feel its a gross waste of time and effort. Re installed XP and are a happy camper again.

What a waste of time and money was Vista!!!!

PS
I also used Office 2007 with my Vista, no different, Vista is still unacceptable for me.

There is a work around for this problem but it's a bit complicated, if you don't know what your doin. Best solution is upgrade to Office 2007.

I run Office 2003 with Vista and don't have any of these problems. I guess you can be lucky sometimes.

Think I'll upgrade to 2007 Outlook. I've tried going to the Microsoft site and fixing it through there but had no joy.

I've also already tried taking back to XP but because the system came with Vista, going back to XP wasn't a solution.

I'll leave it till I update.

Thanks for the help anyway guys, much appreciated!

Bret

Before wasting your money on M$ Office download OpenOffice and give it a try - remember it is free.

Thanks Peter, I've used that before but I'm happy with Office, it's just an email issue I'm having. Just need to cop it on the chin until I get Outlook 2007.

Brett,
give microsoft a ring...they are very helpful
they will usualy point you in right direction to their help page....and i've found that if a problem their end they put you thru to support tech free of charge......
ie i tried following their help page to get rid of a virus...and it didnt work...gave them a ring, got thru to support who tried directing me to help page, but when i told him that didnt work for me, he put me thru to support tech who ran me thru it and got rid of it,.....for free....have used them 6/7 times... some charged... some for free

but please note they do (usually) charge if its not their fault
