Hi there, can anyone tell me what is going wrong for me?
I import the following from a txt file:
Datum,Australian Geocentric 1994 (GDA94)
WP,DMSX,1,-27,11,91,152,49,28,10/07/2007,14:30,Crown Hotel,A,N,-9999
The waypoint comes up in Ozi as 27 12 31, 152 49 28.
I can right click on the waypoint to edit it but when it has been edited it goes back to the above!
What am I missing?
Mike

You have an incorrect latitude entered......-27,11,91. There is no such thing as 91 seconds so it will carry an extra minute over and leave 31 seconds (91 seconds = 1 minute +31 seconds) This will produce 27 12 31.

Thanks Andrew,
Another seniors moment for me I guess.
I re-wrote the txt file and it works.
Mike.

Mike, In ozie, go to FILE - CONFIGURATION - MAPS
In the maps section, alter the Lat/Long display to read Degrees, minutes.
This will read minutes and seconds as decimal minutes and put new Crown somewhere to the north of
Brisbane.(-27 11.910') (152 49.28')
If this is still wrong, then change the Lat/Long display to minutes
(-27 .11910) (152 .4928) and put you NW of
Brisbane.
Once the waypoint is correctly entered, you can then set the configuration back to how you previously had it. Ozie will convert the waypoint coordinates to the selected display.
I prefer degrees, minutes, seconds
Cheers, Tony

The waypoint file is in Degrees, Minutes, and Seconds as described by the second field.......DMSX . It is wrong to change the format when it is specified by the file.
The file format is broken down as follows:
WP, waypoint name, latitude(multiple fields), longitude(multiple fields), date , time , waypoint description, symbol, Garmin GPS waypoint display format, height.

whoops....forgot to add "coordinates format" eg DMS as the second field, which is important in this thread :-)
