Open to all ideas - The family has 9 days off towards the end of October and live in Melbourne.
Where to go?
Thinking of Broken Hill and surrounds - GQ patrol wagon ready for touring.
Toured most of the high country and looking for a new adventure!

Hi. I'd suggest the Flinders: there are some interesting ways to get from Melbourne to the Flinders and heaps to do while you are there for any family. Search on Flinders in this site for lots of information.

Do a loop up through the Grampians, then the western Vic National Parks including a camp beside the Murray in Hattah Kulkyne, then north to Lake Mungo and on the Mutawingie NP and Broken Hill, then head west to the Flinders for a few days. Lots of variety, great scenery and some interesting driving in such a route.

Cheers,

Val.

That would be a whistle stop tour Val. YOu could do it but you wouldn't see very much of any of the places.

9 days would be easy to fill just going to Broken Hill. Maybe stop overnight at Hattah on the way up and come home via Mungo.

While in the Hill you should check out the RFDS base at the
Airpot, spend some time in a few of the gelleries in town. Pro Hart's, Jack Absalom's and Whites Mineral Art Museum in Doe St are all must see's but there are plenty of others worth a visit.

A day out to Silverton is also a must. Call into the pub and take the test, the Coin Carvery, the art galleries and the museum are all worth spending time in and you can get a nice meal and coffee at the Cafe up on the hill.

Add a day out at Mutawingee and you won't get much change out of your 9 days.
