Hi All,
Missus and I just spent all day in the garden, does it hurt. But we have a (18 month plan) to downsize to something smallerand invest the rest in a motor home. I'm not keen on towing a caravan but think a suzzi on an A frame behind a MH would be ok.
Swmbo is not sure what would be the best, "I can't see it" is the mantara even though weve looked at lots of pics.
I want to go and have a look at a motor home gathering, rather than go to dealers that only push there own barrow. Unfortunatly I am having trobles finding when and where the next one may be in WA. has anyone have any details on this?
Any sugestions greatly accepted

Quite a few of the people ive met in motorhomes are members of The Campervan & Motorhome Club of Australia. www.cmca.net.au i think youll find your information there.
good luck

Hi Ian,
The 4WD and
Camping Show is on around the 16th of November there should be most of the local dealers and more in one spot . Then in March The Caravan and
Camping Show on 13th March 08 that will have what you are looking for.

Hi Ian
One of my first questions on ExplorOz was Motorhome or Caravan, as at that stage we were undecided. I had toured UK and Europe for some months with my family when we were teenagers in a small motorhome.
When on our
camping holidays, we looked at any outstanding off road or tough rigs rather than
the gorge, waterfall or whatever we had come to see, and did see some good all-in-one campers.
We thought we would end up with a 4wd motor home of some sort, but as we got older, the idea of a tow vehicle and a caravan won out. I am now glad we made this choice. We have a vehicle year round, and when travelling, can leave the caravan and get into tighter spots on day trips, or get around cities if we have to. The caravan gives us the room we need; the bathroom is a bonus, and there is no climbing down from a bed over the cab on wobbly knees in the middle of the night; our QS bed is always there ready for us.
We looked at a Winnebago on a 4wd Canter truck, and the bed was up the ladder! Many of the other motorhomes had a bed which was not long enough for my husband, and a bathroom he would not fit into.
The caravan works for us.

Hi Motherhen, Its a hard choice, its good to get your perspective though. We want it for around 3 years of travelling. Had a look at your pics, we just spent 2 weeks in the flinders/
gammon ranges loved it not enough time though

Hi Ian
We loved the Northern Flinders,
Gammon Ranges and
Arkaroola, although we only spent a short time there last year. Couldn't have done all the drives we did around
Arkaroola, and the 4wd circuit around the Gammons with a motorhome. Just one more time we found it ideal to unhitch and leave the caravan to enjoy the drives.
I have lots more pictures on the caravaners
forum - as there is room to enter lots there, but not so easy to find as they are just a series of albums created as entries are made by any members. Great photos from other people as
well.

Hi again
I would highly recommend that you consider becoming an associate member of the club to help with your research into this lifestyle. The benefits are great, and
well worth the $40 - $50 it costs.
e.g.
monthly magazine, access to the website,
forum, etc ,and be welcome at any chapter get together. Qualifying vehicle is not necessary for associate
membership.

Missus & I have also come to the conclusion that motorhome towing small 4wd is a great way to go (one day).
Have picked up lots of useful advice just chatting to the folks we've met in caravan parks, etc. Still a medium/long term research project for us tho.

Hi Peter, I have done similar but would like to see a bigger range than I have seen so far. Hoping to be on the road in around 18 months. If I have to wait another 6 month thats ok.
It won't be a mobile palace but will be functional, just need to get the bosses ok she's 95% there.
