Hi all,
Over the weekend i filled up both tanks in my GU 4.2 ute and noticed the the "Sub Tank" light on the dash was on when started it- read the instructions and says that this means there is an error with the sub tank system and should see a nissan dealer? had a look for any broken wires or blown fuses and cannot see a problem.
Bad timing aswell as we are leaving for Fraser Island on Friday.
Has anyone has the same problem or know what it could be?
Regards
Brett

Hi Brett,
Had a similar problem after having my Black Widow alarm installed by Strathfield Car Radio. Took it back and they said it was nothing they had done...took it to an auto electrician and he said he couldn't say whether Strathfield had caused the fault so i spent about $350 and he "fixed" it for me.
About a year later it came up in the Nissan Yahoo List to disconnect the battery for a while, which resets the computer or something and it should be fine.
So i learned by being burned :(

A short in the wiring will also cause this. I had the sub trank replaced with a larger one and somehow the wiring ended up jamed or caught up somewhere (possibly from a stick) and the wiring eventually snapped and shorted out.
Initially i replaced the fuse and disconnected the battery for 1hr. This reset the system but as the wiring was R.S., the light soon came back on and wasn't resovled until the wiring was fixed.
The small breather on the transfer pump also managed to clog up and the pump stopped. Taking the pump out and whacking it a few times freed it up and all is good now.
All these issues also happened about a week before I crossed the simpson. Didn't have time to sort it out in Alice, but as i also had a replacement main tank and a couple of jerry's i had enough fuel for the crossing.
