We are looking at buying an NM Pajero and I seem to recall that they had a problem with dust sealing - am I right or thinking of something else?
If it is the case I believe there was a fix provided by Mitsubishi - if there is no paper work with the car can you tell by looking if the seals have been upgraded?
Thanks in advance.

Some had a problem with the dust vent under the rear bumper not closing properly. Some needed a dust kit fitted, a job that was done under warranty. Most have no issues at all.
Ask here
Pajero Club forum for further information.

Hi IanM,
I had an Nm for 5 years and can say I found it no better or no worse than any other 4wd's I've had over the years.

D'day Ian
I drive a landie, so I'm used to the dust ... and
water ;-)).
However I have spoken to drivers of other makes and the usual response is along the lines that after the seals cop a bit of wear, they all let in some dust, albeit some less than others. Can't speak about Pajs in particular.
Cheers

Give Mitsubishi a call, give them the VIN and see if their records show if the modification or upgrade was done.
Or get the dealer to do it.

Hi Ian.
After a recent trip to the
corner country in July I found that my NP had a serious dust problem.
I checked on the pajero
forum & found it was a major problem. You expect dust in the outback but the pajero problem was a major pain in the backside.
I approached the local MMA dealer & finally had a dust kit fitted last week. It took 2 days to fit & appears that all the trim was removed. At least the dust smell is now gone when the air cond. is turned on.
I got the paj back & the inside was covered with dust. All the panels seem to fit ok(after I spent 2 days playing around with them!!).
Regards.
Vince

We had an NM for 7 years, an early one that had no work done on the dust seals-- lots of dusty trips. Only time we had an issue was our fault, driving down the Darling with sun roof open enjoying the mils sunshine. Opened the back door at
Menindee and the dust jumped out at us. Every time after that it was all windows up and turn on the fan so that the internal was pressurised.
