G'day. I am new to 4wd'ing but am very eager to venture offroad with my old landcruiser. Am just getting new
suspension with 2' lift fitted and will be looking for new offroad tyres. I am interested in skinny LT tyres like MRF m77's fitted to 16" wheels. I heard they are very durable and
well priced. Can these tyres be fitted to normal steel wheels like sunraysias without tubes? Can i run these tyres on normal sealed roads? My truck is old and doesn't get to real high speeds, maybe 90kms max. Somehow i can not justify spending big $$$$ for a
well known brands in wider size. What exactly are the pro and cons of different tyre widths? I will be venturing into blue mountains areas at first. All
views appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Mate, those tyres you are thinking of are too rigid for bitumen driving as they are 14ply rating. You would be better off using a MRF SUPER MILER 12ply rating.
You would be better off running the MRF's on split rims. You would be able to run them on sinle steel rims but changing atyre out bush would be a real pain. You will have to use tubes with any MRF crossply tyre.
There are hundreds of threads on this site discussing the pros and cons of wide versus skinny tyres out bush. Do a search in the archives.
I run MRF SUPER TRACTION tyres in the bush and a set of wide tubeless tyres for bitumen driving and around town.
Cheers

I run exactly the same as yourself:
- MRF Super Traction for off road work and touring
- factory alloys with wide tyres for bitumen and beach.
MRF Tyres are tough.
I've had
mine for about 2 years and couldn't be happier with them for grip on rocks / dirt / gravel - but believe they dig down too deep in the sand.
Good luck with it all.
