G'day Folks, I own a 03 4.2tdi Patrol wagon and am getting it dyno'd this Friday. I'd be interested to see what the differences from factory settings were made from people who own one and have had it done. ie pump timing, pressure etc. I already have a 3" exhaust right through including dumpipe. Denco Diesel are doing the work and it will give us a a day in Wagga.

cheers Dave

Hi Dave,
I have an 03 4.2tdi ute, it made 79rwkw with 35" tyres with no engine mods. I had a 3" exhaust and dump pipe fitted and increased boost to 12psi and it made 99rwkw with 35" tyres.
Not bad power for the 1200 bucks it cost me.
Cheers
Brett

hey there dave.
Just curious how you got 12lb boost from the standard turbo, considering the maximum achievable is 11, because that's the maximum the diaphram on the wastegate actuator will handle. Not saying ya didn't, just wanna know how. I run 16lb, or 1.3 bar, and had to change actuator assembly.
Cheers

if you dont use the MTQ cast 2/14 inch dump pipe and have a true 3" one made, and retime the pump from .76 to .79, and get MTQ to machine the turbo, and run 15 psi you should see around 130 rw kw + on 35's.

I would recommend a pyro post turbo to gauge in cab to "keep an eye" on things though.

Not sure exactly how they achieved that amount of boost. I do know they played around with the wastegate.
Sorry i couldnt be more help.

boost controller, it sees boost one side, and tells wastegate something different ;-)

GO_OFFROAD do you do any tuning as a business yourself? Being in Geelong and closer to me it could be easier than some of the "other side of Melbourne" tuners......

Madcow.
Factory timing setting is 0.76.
and 9psi boost.
you can get timing advance, simply be aware that the car may run on after the ignition is shut off, for a second or two, although no drama if you have a turbo timer because you won't notice it.
you should be able to make around 110-140rwhp, all depending on dyno though.
cheers

Well the results are in.
Max Power 109.6bhp at rear wheels 138kmh
Max Torque 321.7lb-ft at 78 kph

all done in fourth gear though wether top may have made a difference I'm not sure. It has progressive power right across the rev range. Who knows in top gear it may hit the ton!!
