Hi everyone,
Can someone help me by advising me if a non return valve is necessary in a windscreen washer line.
Cheers
Howard.

Well, if you do not have one the fluid all drains back down to the reservoir, and every time you use the washers you will have to pump for quite awhile to get the
water up, with the wiper blades grinding across a dirty screen.
You can get them at any Autobahn or whatever for a couple of dollars.

Quick tip, (I don't like the wipers comeing on until I have the windscreen nice and wet, don't like the auto system) In both my GU and the work toyota 78, if you flick the washer lever like flashing the headlights, the pump squirts but the wipers don't start.

Andrew, the wife's Kia has the auto system. It seems every time I drive it the
water reservoir is empty which I find out while driving into the sun with a dirty windscreen. Usually have to pull over because the wipers have smeared the dirt all over the windscreen. Then of course there is no container of
water in the car for emergencies etc lol
