Has anybody had problems with their main Long Range replacements tanks for a GU (02) Patrol wagon. I'd read 12-18 months ago about three tanks from a
well known manafacturer giving way on a trip undertaken by the 4x4 Australia magazine (Manafacturer not named) and after the last trip north, I find that my ARB "Long Ranger" 145 litre
tank is weeping deisel from a fracture on the top of the
tank. Appears to be a fatigue issue which is very dissapointing. Anyone else had similar issues, particularly with a 75 litre sub-
tank replacement as that was my next investment.
Cheers. Mick.

That is disappointing Mick , brought same
tank here and its been ok.
Did install
mine - and took some care to ensure it wasn't stressed during fittment (required a couple of washers from memory)
Certainly heard of several complaints about the budget brands in both main and sub , but not in this brand.

It is disappointing Robin. The
tank was in the vehicle when I bought it and the vehicle had been owned and set-up by ARB as a showcar for a couple of years. I'd presume being one of their own they would have done the appropriate thing installing it.

G'day Mick,
Have you taken it back to ARB to have it checked out? What did they say?
It seems strange to have a fracture around the top, I would think, except perhaps around the brackets... they may not have been properly tightened in installation.
I have a LR (120l diesel, 34 litre
water combination) product in my 100 series which has now done about 50,000k's and has taken some very significant hits and appears to be standing up pretty
well despite a lot of rough roads. I've done a thorough inspection and despite some big dents from landing on rocks and all, it has no leaks or problems.
In my experience, the folks who manufacture the LR product are very focused on product quality and would seem to have the best quality product on the market in my assessment.
Cheers,
Andrew.

I installed a 145 liter LR
tank in my 2003 Patrol. It had also been in a 2000 ARB show car for 4 years when I got Apart from needing a good clean out and paint the outside, it was perfect and the guy I bought it off had obviously been off road a bit.
Some welds may be better than others Guess it depends if they are Monday morn or Friday afternoon or real good mid week ones LOL
