Evening all,

I'm looking at buying a Honda Eu10i, new or second hand. A Yamaha too for that matter if I find one for a good price. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone checked them out at any 4x4 shows last year or this year and what prices they had for show specials? I'm going to the Melbourne 4x4 Show in a few weeks but I'm looking at a 2nd hand one at the moment. If the show prices are decent I'll go for a new one instead as second hand still command a good price.

Also, how old is the Eu10i? Have they been out for years, any updates to inverter etc?

Cheers,

Mark.

On this forum, the Eu10i name pops up around the end of 2001, beginning of 2002 and mention is made of the eco-throttle. Sounds like the same model as the current one. Anyone able to confirm this?

I'm also calling a Honda phone number tomorrow for 'promotion pricing', they have the Eu20i for $1899, but no price on the Eu10i .

Hi Mark
Done a lot of research on the Honda and Yamaha the Honda in my opinion came out on top ,they hold there value as you will see when you start pricing them. Payed $1500.00 for mine(Eu10i) you may be able to bata a better price at the show best of luck.

I agree Chuck although I wouldn't knock back a Yamaha for a good price. Will call the Generator Place today and see what they can do.

Cheers,

Mark.

Have a quote from the Generator Place for eu10i.
Ret. $1659, will do for $1500 + $200 cashback (expires end of month) = $1300.
Free deliv, 4yr. warranty.

At the big show Sandown on weekend they seemed to be going just below $1300 , think I remember $1269 Mark.

Hasn't changed hardly at all for years now.

Our Yammie 1000 is going very well still.
The Honda is of course a beauty too - both very quiet.
2 years back the show specials for both were about $1250 and $1450 (the latter Honda being via a cashback).
I approached a dealer OFF-show and talked up a deal - they are keen at show times, even if not there.
The Yam has a 300ml oil bath, so I change it every trip - just about on new oil permanently !

Be sure to ask in which country the generator was manufactured. If you can get a straight answer you might be surprised to find it is not Japan. The profit margins increase when item is produced off shore but the pricing remains the same.

OK all, thanks for your replies, looks like a new one might be the go. The 2nd hand I was looking at is 4 years old, $1000 plus $50 delivery. Brand new, free delivery, 4 (or 5?) year warranty, after cash-back $1250!

Mind you though, a near new Yamaha was for sale a few weeks ago for $650, I was too slow on that one.

I phone ordered Honda eu10i(Generator Shop Bris. 1800 442 447) yesterday at 10.15am.
It was delivered to my front door (New England NSW) at exactly 10.15 this morning.
Pre checked, filled with oil, sufficient petrol to start (bet they didn't declare that!)
Now that is what I call service.
