The Landy
I know this has been done to death, but I just spent 10 days out in the Corner Coutry region and managed to connect once for about two minutes. I tried every other day just to see how it went, but to no avail. Could not even lock on.
I spoke with Globalstar and got the rundown that others have provided on here regarding the new satellites; a lot of talk that boiled down to our service not really working.
I have a connection via Vodafone, a hang-over from when they owned it.....but will now cancel it.

G'day The Landy,
Your last line said
"Globalstar...caveat emptor"
I think it should have said
"Globalstar...RIP"
I, too, had a very good reason to reach for the satphone when I noticed that I'd done a shocky on my CT at
Chambers Pillar. It took over an hour to get enough of a signal to make a couple of quick calls. Thank Christ I wasn't ringing because we needed the Flying Doctor or similar!!
Cheers,
Russ.

Hi Stocky
Quite right, I have the Ericsson R290 (which has been serviced) and Globalstar said this could 'exaggerate' the problem they are having. But none-the-less it gives me little confidence to upgrade to a new phone to use their network. After all if the phone is in good working order...it should work.
Cheers

Used my Global star phone over the last WA long weekend. Got connected immediately but lost coverage after about 3 minutes. Didn't bother after that. Call cost $3.85. But it ended up being a free call due to the plan I'm on. Small mercy I suppose and the call was just a social call to my folks.

OT Willie
That Kangaroo painting is quite modern. It has been superimposed over the painting on the left of a hunter with a hat and a gun. I must've missed that one but found some others in dark
places in the days before digi-pics. One always say 'I should've walked down that
gorge'....there is so much to miss.
Cheers

Willem ,
I just checked the full size version of the roo photo which actually I am using as my screen wall paper at the moment .
It is not a gun in the guys hand , but big fingers on both hands and he has what looks like three antennae or carrot tops growing out of his head .
There is a lot of gorges I still want to explore . It's just that they are a long way away in WA that's the problem .
Willie .

Hi all,
Yeah....Globalstar....What a joke, I tell you what, what they are doing must be illegal, they take your money but dont supply the service. My GS phone is at the auction tomorrow, take whatever i can get for it. I am replacing it with
hf radio.
I have also demanded all the money i have paid to gs be returned to me.
Regards................BIGDOG

Has anyone ever taken this problem further, eg. the telco ombudsman or consumer affairs etc. If only the people here who have had a problem spoke out someone would have to act on it, lets face it this has been going on for years now.
