Hi,
Is a CDMA mobile phone of any use north of
Cairns on the way to the top??

If youve got kids itl be handy to keep them amused playin the games.(for about 10 mins anyway)
Seriously tho I have no idea, but if the cape is like the rest of Australia you wont have a large phone bill.
Try Telstra.com they have coverage maps of everywhere.

I can confirm what Eric said - I was up there lat Aug & Sept and CDMA coverage had recently been expanded with a few more towers. At Archer River we saw two guys from the National Telecommunication System ___ or something and they said you could get coverage just a litte short of Archer River; anyway we did not
test it here put in
Weipa,
Bamaga, Thursday Is no problems and at Punsund Bay on
the beach no worries and also at Chilli Beach.Cheers, Beddo
