Very easy to install four wires it uses a 5V powersupply ( i used an old Nokia Phone Charger) then just the two wires for the 12V supply.

Ok now i'm confused. It uses a 5V power supply? I have this one at home and it states supply voltage at 5V too. It also has 10 pins on the back of the unit. How can i make this work? Any ideas?

Why not go to Jaycar or Dick Smiths and buy a LM7805 5 volt regulator, small and easy to setup.

These units are four wire, i would need to see your units circuit diagram. I would think the diffent connections might be different voltage taps, two of them will be the meters supply. If you don't have an old mobile phone charger you ca use one of these.

I Just looked at the link sorry i didn't notice it at first.
If you have a CX102B
Pin 1: 5 volts + ( powersupply )
Pin 2: 5 volts - ( powersupply )
Bridge Pin 3 too Pin 5 for two decimal points ( 0v to 20v )
Pin 7: 12 volts + ( your car battery )
Pin 8: 12 volts - ( your car battery )

Regards

Have a look at ebay and search item number 330175206154.. For $70 it maybe what you want as it only needs a switch to setup for both batteries. It is portable also so you can take it out if you have a use elsewhere. If you have any questions just ask the seller a question as he is quick with a detailed reply. Cheers.....
