Hi Guys,
My predicament - I have a 90 model terrano TD with a 2.7ltr TD.
The body really does lack, and we'd like a more comfortable bus ( I sold the missus Delica and sort of miss the thing now). I can't seem to get a decent price for the thing, most people being put off by paint fade and scratches.
So I was thinking - transplant the engine into a nicer, newer rig....
A 95 model is on the market with a blown motor, but my question is.....does anyone know if it is possible (let alone desirable) to fit my 1990 2.7ltr TD (90K klms) into a 95 model with the 3.2ltr TD?
My Terrano is in
Hobart, but I can get free freight of the engine to Qld, where the 95 model is. So it is more fitting costs, and whether or not I can actually do this conversion, that is my concern. For instance, are transmissions compatible?
Can anyone help please? Also, would a blown 3.2ltr turbo diesel be worth anything at all to re-sell to off-set the costs of the conversion?
Regards,
Jeremy

Jeremy, To transplant your motor into a newer rig would cost money and further offset the losses you are concerned over with your current scractched rig. My advise is to clean up your current rig as best as possible and sell it. This is by far the most sensible and cost effective thing to do. There is no other way around it.

Fitting an earlier model engine into a later model vehicle, will not meet the pollution laws, so it would be illeagal unless you run it only on gas.
If it was the other way around, Later engine into the earlier model vehicle then that would be okay.

Have a look on the internet and you will find what has to be and how it is done.

I know how diesel is mixed with gas.
You said you must run an earlier engine in a later car ONLY on gas.
How do you run a diesel ONLY on gas?

You won't be able to do it then will you.
go and argue with QLD Transport or who ever.
You put the question up and now you want to argue about.
they get paid to argue so see them.

I still can't fathom how your reply is relevant, since Jeremy is asking about DIESEL engines.
