Does anyone know if Ipaq screens loose their brightness over time? I have had one for a few years and I tend to get lazy and leave it attached to the windscreen all the time.

This last trip it seemed harder to read as if it wasn't as bright as it used to be.

I checked the brightness settings and they were all OK.

It might be just my imagination or where the sun was coming from that made it more difficult to read.

Maybe they are like Humans, we all lose our brightness over time.

David,
are you sure its not your eyes getting older:-)

I have had an Ipaq on my windscreen also for a few years and must admit, I looked at it the other day and thought it was a little harder tooo see. I figured it was cos it was a bright day.

Depends on the make-up of the lighting.

EL you get 5k to 10k hours before failure
FL about the same
LED should get >20k hours before dull/failure (unless they are over driving)

Dont know about them but I read on another forum somewhere that people have actually been refused warrant claims becuse they " exposed the screen to direct sunlight".
Says a lot for them but it does pay to mount them back a bit so the sun doesnt get right on them. Makes it easier to read as well
