Hi all,
I have recently purchased a 2002 Prado TDI which I love, but now I would like to take the family away camping on the NSW coast and am looking for some good oil on the great campgrounds...
I would like to do a bit of beach driving as I love my fishing. Has anyone camped at Crowdy Bay NP???
Also what about Delicate Noby.
Anyway your help would be greatly appreciated…

If you look at that row of buttons just above your post you will one called PLACES, if you click on that , select NSW , and in the drop down menu you can select Free Camps, or Caravan Parks , You might find some info there,

Jock.
From Crescent Head (Back beach/Racecourse/Delicate Knobby) you can get beach access. you require a permit from Kempsey shire, great fishing beaches along that stretch.
If you can pull beach worms you will killem!
Further South at Point Plommer is NP. I dont know if beach access is allowed there.

Hi Jock,

I haven't camped at Crowdy Bay but it seems a nice area.

Delicate Nobby is a great spot. It's been a couple of years since I was there so I hope it hasn't changed much. It's run by the council, it's just behind the beach, has a cold shower, bore water for washing up etc, fires allowed. The coastline there (between Crescent Head and Port Macquarie) is beautiful. There are a couple of other campgrounds here as well. Barrys (Point Plomer) is privately owned, Malealuca is NP nature reserve, Racecourse (great surfing) is council, I think. Beach driving allowed with a permit.

Jock,
From Pt Plomer ( Queens Head ) you have 11kms down the beach to Pt Macquarie.

Great fishing surfing and during the week little traffic. You will need a permit from the Kempsey Shire Council.

For camping go to Delicate Nobby camp grounds as the last time I went to Pt Plomer it looked like a scene from Hamburger Hill. Way too many tourists with smouldering fires.

Delicate Nobby Camp ground is between Crescent Hill and Pt Plomer.

Wonderful area lots of flora & fauna & surf & fish.

Cheers

Jock69,

Kylies campground at Crowdy Bay NP is great. Several drop toilets with cold showers and beach access. There are other campgrounds within the NP but they have more facilities and of course more people.

We camp there quite often.

Regards

hi i grew up in that area and diamond head campground which is part crowdy bay national park is really nice heaps of families there. it gets really busy during the school holidays/ Christmas though because its a popular spot for the locals ( there are two other campgrounds right near it Indian head and Kylie's campground although not as many facilities). i'm not 100% if you can drive on the beach there however there are heaps of places not too far away around there where you can, also places such as Harrington/crowdy head, old bar and Forster are beautiful spots as well also south west rocks is a really nice thats near kempsey. hope that helped.
