Hi All,

I am planning to purchase a 12,000 lbs winch for my 2006 GU Patrol. The Bull Bar that came with the truck is a Nissan installed bar. It has a place for the winch rollers but no where for the winch to be mounted as I can see. Do I need to go to Nissan for the mounting bracket or can I get them for any 4WD shop.

Thanks, Iceman

I don't class myself as a winch expert but from what I have seen I don't think you need a mounting plate on a Nissan winch bar.
There should be 4 holes in the front of your bar, the top two should hold the top two bolts of the winch and fair lead, the bottom two should hold the bottom bolts of the winch.

My theory is, the reason there are only the four at the front is that's where all the pressure will be on the bar any way

Also from what I have seen, That's how the 9500lbs Warns are mounted

I sit here waiting to be corrected by an "expert" :)

Cheers Luke

Don't think you can fit above 9500 into Nissan bullbar. Only on aftermarket types

Iceman

If you're looking to mount a 12,000lb Ironman type winch then it will fit straight in by using the 4 mounting holes in the standard Nissan steel winch bar. This is exactly what I have on my car. No special mounting plate needed.

Hi Iceman

Did mine without a Bullbar as per members photo.

Flat steel plate across chassis rails mounting into 4 existing bolt holes.

Used 6mm plate which is to light without bracing.

Bit of fiddling around but came up ok

Mine is also on a self made cradle on the chassis.

There are some photos in my gallery
