Hallo,

Today we received our permit, we are 2 cars.
Is there anyone who did this track last weeks? How are the conditions?
Are there any difficulties we have to know about?

Thank´s for any information.

Petra

It is an easy track through some very beautiful country.

Following up from your earlier post no one from this forum has been there recently. If it rains you might have a few problems but the track runs over a few small dunes and is relatively flat. Please carry enough water with you as there is none available along that section

Cheers

HI Willem

I seem to recall that permits for this road are not given for single vehicles. Is this true? What do you think?

Cheers
Chris

Hi Willem,
The aboriginal community built a water tank at about the halfway mark (turnoff to the community) in 2005. It looked a bit dodgy, so I wouldn't rely on it. The road from the turnoff to Warburton was rebuilt at the same time.

Chris it is true that they don't like to give out permits to single vehicles but it's just a standard safety precaution. The drive is not difficult, although the spinifex can build up after rain so early in the season the first few parties of vehicles are warned to be wary of spinifex fires. We have done it solo (before the permit was introduced). Very pretty but only a day's drive if I remember correctly.

Badly corrugated allowing on average 40-60km/hr in August.
