Years ago (like 35 or so) if you were flying over the Nullarbor you could see a huge READYMIX
sign, including the diamond, carved out on the ground by bulldozers. This was before the road was realigned closer to the cliffs.
I was trying to find it on Google Earth without any success.
Does anyone know if it is still there?

Conspiracy theorists will love this.
The High contrast terrametrics coverage ends right on the top of the diamond, and the DigitalGlobe coverage conveniently has much lower contrast.
Do we blame the CIA?

Thanks everyone,
In 1972 I was flying back from
Melbourne to
Perth in the jumpseat of a Boeing 727 and the captain pointed this out to me by putting the aircraft on its right wingtip.
I'm sure every cup of coffee down the back got spilt.
Good to see that it's still there after all these years.
These days I guess Readymix would have got a rap over the knuckles from all the greenies. Back then it was just brilliant.
Speaking of BIG advertisements, if anyone visits Chinaman's Rock north east of
Yalgoo in WA it has the remnants of WA's first billboard with the scratchy remains of a transport company's name painted on it when bullock trains used to supply the Murchison goldfields from
Geraldton.

I see that the University of
New England has done a giant koala that they hope will be included on more recent google pix. Obviously not availiable yet, but watch out for it.

While Googling something else I came across this site:
http://www.accessmylibrary.com/coms2/summary_0286-9508372_ITM
It gives THE most comprehensive history of the READYMIX
sign on the Nullarbor. It is the most I've ever seen written about such a thing. It is really interesting.
