Gday Guys

Looking at getting some new light force spotties but cant decide on whether the 240 XTGs are worth the extra $100 over the 240 Blitz.

Is the light power the same and only the mounting bracket different.

Any feedback would be great

Have a good one

Get the 170mm , The 240s are OK for Trucks , on 4x4 they are too close and block off air to the radiator, I have the 170mm and they will light up reflectors at 3.2 klm , No you can't see a cow or a Roo at 3.2klm but you don't need to, If you have a set of lights that will show you a Cow or Roo at 220m then your doing fine, and please don't tell me you can't wash off 40kph or 50 kph from 100kph in 200m

Everything he said!

We have 170's on the Prado and they are just right in size and give plenty of light.

I have had the 170 before but would like a little more light. I have had rally 4000 which were great but they wont fit the toyota bull bar.

Thats interesting that you say they block too much air. Has anybody else had this problem.

XGT's and 240 Blitz are the exact same light , the only difference is in the housing.

The XGT's have a more bulky housing (HID Housing) but the 240's have a tendency to go walkies, due to the screw out design.

as said 240 blitz and xgts same light except for the housing and mounting........xgts are sturdier...for ruff and corrugated roads......and you cant screw them in for adjustment ...that is done by clip on coloured or clear lenses

If you can fit the 240's spend the extra, on as steel bar you should be able to get the 240's to fit nicely. On my patrol I could fit three across the front but only have two so I still have a reasonable airflow in to the radiator, drving the inland Pilbara in the middle of summer I have never had any cooling issues. On my landcruiser the 240 Blitz lights fitted fine, I had to get a couple of brackets made up for $60 to fit them on the Patrol. The XGT's are perhaps a bit more stylish looking but the beam is not adjustable like the Blitz. As for how they will fit on your vehicle the place I brought mine from allowed me to take them out the box and try them for size before I bought them, if you can fit the biggers ones go for it.

I had the 170's on my Jack - they went nicely in the ARB bullbar profile - larger ones have to site further forward and do block air of course (not a day to day problem, but air flow is required at critical high heat level times !). The 170's were great - turn them off at night and the Jack's headlamps (with upgraded globes) seemed worthless !
I have a different vehicle now and it came with IPF's.
Note that the globes are the same in the LF 170's and the 240's - the candle power is up in the biggies but I don't know where it comes from ! The higher cost LF lights may have some other trick to higher candlepower. Have a chat with LF - they are very easy to talk too, as long as you have done a bit of homework first (in Hindmarsh, SA).

The extra candle power comes from the increased reflector size. One night I tested my old hand held spotlight, same as the 140, then screwed it off and put the 240 reflector on it. The difference in light was amazing despite both being 100 watt. Bigger really is better!

Cheers,

Mark.

I have had two, 170 then upgraded to 240 blitz. The xgt produces more light, but is bulkier. The 240 sticks out in front of my bullbar and the xgt would do that a bit more.

For most general applications the 170 would suffice. The 240 blitz is fantastic. I would get the xgt if you live on a station and need to avoid cattle in the middle of bush tracks every night, or drive a truck and need to see the road a few kays ahead.

XGT's make great bug catchers.
