I recently purchased from a friend a trailermate jack. Four years old and it worked perfectly for 3 days and then following a heavy overnight shower it refused to do its job,ie;jack.

Can anyone help with maybe causes or better still where in the Brisbane north side can I get it fixed.

Regards

Jim

These instructions may help.

If required I will also try and forward parts identification list.

TRAIL - A - MATE

STEPS TO SERVICE THE SEALS & O-RINGS IN THE PISTON PUMP HOUSING

1. Remove linkages (Parts # 17 through 20).
2. Make sure release valve (Part # 8) is closed as to minimize oil loss.
3. Place Trail-A-Mate in a vice lying sideways, making sure it is secured tightly by the cast section of the pump (NOT BY THE OIL RESERVOIR).
4. After loosening the piston housing (Part #10) place Trail-A-Mate in the upright position in the vice before removing completely as to minimize oil loss.
5. Pull the piston shaft (Part # 10A) out through the top off the piston housing (Part #10).
Remove the O-Ring (Part # 15) from the base of the piston housing (Part # 10).
Remove the two seals (Part # 11) from inside the top of the piston housing (Part # 10).
Remove the bucket washer and plastic O-Ring (Part # 13 & 14) from the bottom of the piston Shaft (Part # 10A).
Clean the piston housing and the piston shaft thoroughly.

TO REASSEMBLE PISTON ASSEMBLY

1. Replace seals (Part # 11) into the top of the piston housing (Part # 10).
2. Place piston shaft (Part # 10A) through the top of the piston housing (Part # 10) until the top of the shaft is flush with the top of the housing.
3. Replace O-Ring and bucket washer (Part # 13 & 14) onto the bottom of the piston shaft.
4. Gently tap the bottom of the piston shaft (Part # 10A) on a hard surface being careful as to not damage the bucket washer.
5. Replace O-Ring (Part # 15).
6. Replace piston housing into pump housing making sure it is tight as to not be able to suck air into the pump.
7. Reassemble linkages (Part # 17 through 20).
8. Refill oil reservoir to approximately 20mm from the top with Grade 32 Hydraulic Oil.

TO BLEED ANY AIR FROM IN UNIT

1. Open release valve (Part # 8) 2 – 3 full turns.
2. Pump unit as normal 30 times.
3. Close release valve (Part # 8) and begin pumping.

YOUR UNIT SHOULD NOW BE FULLY SERVICED AND BE IN WORKING ORDER. SHOULD THIS NOT BE THE CASE, PLEASE CONTACT:

Bob,

Thanks, a booklet came with the jack. Both are in the van which is in storage while I sort things out at home.
I think with the booklet I should be able to follow your instructions.

Last time I was at Arrow Caravan Repairs at Radley St Virginia, I noticed that they sold a service repair kit for the Trail-a-mate. I think the cost was $33.
