I think I have a dead short in the wiper circuit in the cruiser.
Is this a common problem?
105 series 99 model GXL Cruiser. 1HZ
1/ Discovered blown fuse and replaced it (as you do) it blew as
well. (Cleaned windscreen by hand)
2/ Disconnected the two wiper motors and the two washer motors and tried another fuse - Now have 3 blown fuses.
The fuses blew when the ignition switch was turned on. Not when the wiper switch was activated.
(I heard this on the last fuse)
I think I have a short between the fuse and the wiper switch or the delay timer.
Help........................ if anyone can.

Gaz
Get an old head light 60w or more connect two wires to it and the with male spade terminal fit them into where the fuse should be, the light should be able to consume the energy that keeps blowing the fuse.... fingers crossed LOL.
now disconnect wires from around the wipers and ignition, when LIGHT goes out you have found the problem.
Hope this helps should at least save on a pile of fuses
Cheers
Richard

Thanks Richard,
I've been contemplating making a barra lure or a mackeral teaser out of the pile of dead fuses I'm accumulating :)

Gaz,
Are you running a battery isolator? A lot of the time the isolator will have a pick-up wire scotch-locked to the wiper loom to pick up ignition switching. You may have a problem here if fitted.

Tim,
Yes I have a Redarc Smart Start. It's new,as in a week old, changed from an older solenoid type. Problem started a few days after fitting it.
That's food for thought. Will check it out on monday.(Working dayshift this weekend.. )
That means getting into that uncomfortable upsidedown head on the floor, bum on the
seat and lost the torch position don't it??
Oh
well, such is life. :)
Thanks,
Gaz

hi Gaz@gove
maybe your wiper motor or wiper arm linkages are seized
maybe nothing with the wiring if it hadnt been touched before it failed
Lot of dust up your way and lot of dry between drops?
Your could connect motor direct with a jumper wire and see if the wiper motor runs - at least that would motor/linkages them a s a possible source of your troubles
hope this helps

Hey Chocolate Teapot,
I don't think it can be a seized motor or linkages, I electrically disconnected the front and back wiper motors as
well as both the washer motors and the fuse still blew. I wish it was a seized motor etc.
Thanks anyway. (will keep it in mind)
Gaz.
