Hi George,
If saving to a OziExplorer waypoint (.wpt) or route (.rte) file, then go to File==>Save to File==>Save Waypoints to File or File==>Save to File==>Save
Routes to File.
If you mean saving them from your GPS, then you will need the following steps:
- make sure OziExplorer configuration is set to your GPS brand eg Garmin (Go to File==>Configurations==>GPS and File==>Configurations==>COM to make the appropriate changes).....you can verify the correct brand by seeing that the main menu will show either Garmin or Magellan in its selection.
- Select Garmin==>Get Waypoints from GPS
- Select Garmin==>Get
Routes from GPS (only after downloading waypoints to avoid issues)
- Follow the initial process described above for saving to file.
I would suggest based on your question, that you go through the tutorial on the Help File (F1) to learn the basics. The helpfile, whilst lacking some of the newer/advanced information, is a great source of topics and information.......most issues can be solved from there for newbies.:-)
Hope this helps,
Andrew

George
Are you talking about planning a trip, setting waypoints and route before you go and then trying to save this to file?
Andrew has described how to save them from the GPS after the trip.
When planning, use Ozi and set waypoints on the map. Sometimes you need to set a waypoint in the middle of nowhere if there is a sudden change of direction to keep distances approx correct.
Once having set the waypoints you wish to travel to, use the waypoint manger to organise them into the route you wish to travel. When satisfied with the waypoints and route shown on the map they can all be saved throuch the save to file function.
Using the save project function allows you to save and to load waypoints and route together.
Hope this gives you a strategy to follow. Ozi is not the friendliest to follow when new but after a few uses you will find it become very easy to use.
