Yes i did have a good time and yes the people are very friendly because they are trying to sell you something.
I think 12 days in Phuket was to many 6 or 7 would have been spot on. I am used to traveling and only staying in the one place for a couple of days.
It was hot and sticky and had a bit of rain but this didn't stop us from doing any thing.
I hired a jeep $ 20 for the day no questions asked about any thing and even when driving no one stopped us.
At first a bit nervous about the traffic rules but soon worked out there are none the only thing is the bigger you are you get more respect you get (pedestrians have the least)
This was a great way to see the place and so is catching the local bus I did this a couple of times and loved it.
The thing that annoyed me most was the people that are trying to sell you something and saying GDAY MATE in a very Australian way this really annoyed me and I asked a few others on day trips we did and they agreed.
I was a good holiday and probably wouldn't go again rather see another country next I think Vietnam
All the best
Eric

The only thing wrong with Thailand is the middle aged caucasian men walking around with
young Thai girls . YUK . It embarrasses me , that we can be so ugly .
The Thais are a generous , polite people and the countryside is beautiful .

Because It is a follow up of a previous post.
Also its the same reason most posts are put on the site to share experiences or ask questions some people think the are unimportant and others find them interesting.
Like most things if you don't like something don't read it.
Quite simple I think.
All the best

This
forum is about sharing experiences regarding travel, holidays and lifestyle.
It is refreshing to read about something other than tyres and fridges.

Sounds very similar to here :)))
Glad you had a good holiday.

Eric,
We've been there twice, last May and June 2006. Love the place. We were there for two weeks last time and could have handled at least another week.
We try to do an Asian two week trip during the winter each year. Probably do Bali next winter, haven't been there for two and a half years and can't wait to get back.
The value is just outstanding and you get to see so much in the way of culture and lifestyle.
I hear Vietnam is wonderful as
well. Will have to give it a go when the funds permit.
Cheers,
Jim.
