Here we go
We will be going to
Cape York about June/July next year spending about 4/5 weeks there we will be taking our tinny on top of our camper ,the question is ,is it worth the effort to take it to
the tip or would we be better off leaving it with friends at
Port Douglas and picking it up on the way back ?
Geoff.

Definitely take it. Extra grouse fishing with a tinny, at virtually all spots.
Weipa,
Mapoon, the top, Vyrilla etc etc
Cheers

As others have said take it, you will regret it if you don't!
BUT I can't remember where but someone who travels up there a bit suggested fittin a decent rubber pad on the bars the boat sits on to help reduce the risks of vibrations cracking the welds...
Sorry can't remeber where though and can't remember what he used... It was something from a truck parts place I think but I'm sure there are plenty of other options.

We are off to the Cape next April and have been doing the same , "to take the tinny or leave it at home " ,, look up the cost of various charters be they with a guide or bare boat ,do some simple sums and taking the boat becomes VERY attractive even if you only put it in the
water the once on a 4/5week trip ,, each to their own however ,

Oh take it for sure.
You will kick yourself if you leave it short.
You dont really need it till you get above
Port Douglas anyway.

Seeing you have the time Geoff definately take the boat. If you only had 2 weeks on the Cape itself then I wouldn't bother.
Plenty of oppurtunities on both sides of the Cape to fish although the wind often gets pretty strong in the east.
Securing the boat & motor to avoid damage is important on the rough roads.
