Listening on the UHF lastnight on way home, and overheard truck drivers lookin for servos with diesel...

no BP apparently had diesel and most Mobil are running out.

Anyone heard anything about it?

Good planning and excuse for another price rise for the long weekend in Melb...

Hi Truckster,
I was told on sunday that Altona has shut down due to contamination in there Diesel storage tanks, as they have to clean them out. Don't know how long this will take but there is NO Diesel going out to servos. All interstate drivers have been told to fill up before coming into Victoria for this reason.
this is all that I have found out, hope it helps

Refinery problems cause diesel shortage
Posted Fri Oct 19, 2007 10:38am AEST

Some transport companies are facing a reduced supply of diesel, due to a problem at Mobil's Altona refinery in Melbourne this week.

Production is now returning to normal, after it was stopped due to technical issues, which saw the diesel failing to meet specifications.

Supply should be back to normal by mid to late next week.

But Exxon Mobil spokesman Alan Bailey says there has been a shortfall in the normal level over the past week.

"We've been managing that as equitably as possible, certainly some customers have been impacted, my understanding is generally they are managing to cope with the reduced availability," he said.

"Although obviously they need to draw down... stocks of their own over a period and in some cases may have to make alternative arrangements," Mr Bailey said.

The local Shell servo in Bulimba, Brisbane has been without Diesel for several days.....any chance that the two may be remtoely related? (rationing of certain areas?)

Or are they just slack and haven't fixed their problem yet!

We have 25 trucks in our fleet, all with BP fleet card and we started running out on Friday. All BP servos in the South Melbourne area are out of diesel and at the moment we are using our credit card and filling up at Mobil. Its not just BP, some Mobil and Caltex servos are out as well. If this keeps up how in the hell i am going to get work!!!!!
Might have to stay at home with FULL pay???????

cheers,

Lance
