Nudie, I have to whinge although I'm glad I don't have a Nissan to get really ripped off on. Just because your in a business where you have a licence to print money, you don't have to pick on those less fortunate than yourself. LOL

Hi All,
Was quoted $500 to replace the damaged key on my 99 Discovery.
Key still works, starts motor, push tab still locks doors but the unlock tab has lost its cover, and doesn't work properly.
Amazing what a wrap or two of insulation tape will do to keep everything working though.( Mrs wont use my key, says it's too fiddly)
Has anyone tried to claim these costs under their insurance policy yet?
If so, what was the outcome.
Thanks
Disco

A GOOD locksmith can duplicate many of these fancy keys. I needed a second key for my Mercedes Sprinter..$800 from Mercedes. I got one from a locksmith for $60.00 and took him all of 5 minutes to produce. You need a good working key to provide the codes and they simply copy the codes into the new key. No recoding of car computer required at all.
The average key cutter in the local shopping mall cannot do it, you need a Master Locksmith.
