Suspension Upgrade

Hi everyone, well fresh back from our trip North. All went well except for a few dramas but I will leave that for another day.

The Disco (series II) TD5 performed well. We were towing a off road camper and the fuel economy was around 12litres per 100ks so more then happy with that.

What I did discover however, was that I need to give myself a bit of a lift and support. Sorry for the car that is....lol

So I have been looking at suspension kits but I am just getting more confused.

Any recommendations on shocks and springs to use for my upgrade would be appreciated.

Thanks

Cram

I have Old Man Emu from ARB , and transformed the handleing completely , it made the Troopy a pleasure to drive, Others will of course suggest brands that they bought , then your confusion will get worse .
Pop into ARB and have one of the sales personal give you some specs.O M E

Oh well, might as well add to your confusion. Pop into Opposite Lock and have a word with them. Then compare the two and make a decision based on the facts and the product they will use. Mate of mine did a suspension upgrade on his new Patrol with a 4 inch lift using Tough Dog springs and matching shocks. Haven't heard yet how the mods went. Also got rid of the Highway tyres and fitted a set off Mickey Thompson mud something or other. Must say the whole vehicle looks good now.

I have had a look at TJM and another place near where I live, Newcastle, use Raw Shocks and Ironman Springs...so far the prices have been nearly identical.

Try Out of Town 4WD... you'll get good advice there, in addition to good products.

Hi Cram,
Old Man Emu with a 50mm lift gave my disco a much improved ride and handling.Probably one of the best modifications i have done to it.

Cram,

Go the OME. We used it in our series 1 Disco and it was brilliant. Apparently they sometimes need the caster correction even at 2 inches so probably worth getting it fitted. Good luck.
