Tomorrow is the last official tour for the 07 season.

Its way to hot now and people aren't dealing with it very well, in fact an American had a bad turn at Twin falls the other day and had to be flown out. (not on my tour)

I still have a contract with Parks to transfer people to Twin Falls until the 9th of Nov then Twin falls will be closed for the season.

The little man is flying to Cairns with his Aunt and cousins on the 14th Dec to see Nan and Pop (Grey Nomads) and Anja and I are driving the Savannah Way if the weather permits, we will spend Xmas with the family and then Anja will fly home and the little man and I will have a boys trip home.

I looked in the Treks area and I couldn't find the track from Borroloola to Normanton can anyone give me some ideas for this area, I have been to Borroloola Via Roper bar and from Normanton to Cairns just not in between.

I'm not to worried about the weather as we could have done it last year at the same time.

Any ideas would be appreciated we will have about 8/9 days.

Thanks in Advance.

Cheers Steve.

Steve,

What do you do in the off season, apart from catching up with family?

Not a great deal until the end of April, I have a mate who owns a coach company I could do some work for if I get bored, we have brochures for a 2 day trip with his coach and my day tour, at this time of the year we wont be that busy.

So basically just recharge the batteries for the next season.

As you can imagine its 7 days a week 18 hours a day from May to Nov.

Cheers Steve.

Steve,

I can relate to those working hours, but unlike you once I finish up north for the winter, I then head south for the summer.

Not as long away from home this time of the year, mostly 7 day trips, but I will be away for most of January with back to back trips in the Vic High Country

Don't you just follow the Savannah Way? Or are you referring to an 'offroad' track?

I am referring to off road tracks and points of interest.

Steve,
Did the trip in Aug this year. Interesting side trip was from Lawn Hill to Kingfisher Camp and then on to the Savannah Way via Hells Gate. You could do this in reverse. Normanton - Lawn Hill - Kingfisher Camp - Hells Gate - Borroloola. The track takes you through some excellent country on some properties such as Lawn Hill. The track is not maintained by the QLD Main Roads Dept. but by the properties. I know this is a bit of a detour but well worth it. .One point to remember if there is a bit of rain some of the Shire Councils will close the roads. Earlier this year (July) the closed some roads for up to 3 days after 25 mm. Having experienced some big Wet Seasons ( I am in Darwin) you may need to come back via the tar if the BOM is correct about this wet. Anyway whatever you decide, don't forget to take the bait caster and some lures with you, just in case the culverts are up.

Thanks for the info, I will see how much it has rained before I go, It hasn't rain in Jabiru as yet.

It was still open when we drove past last year, we didn't plan to go to Cairns until the first night of our trip.

We had planed to go to Melbourne first, then on the first night I asked the wife what was stopping us from going to see Mum and Dad for Xmas , she said nothing, so instead of going to Alice the next day we went to MT Isa, then to Normanton and across to cairns and down the coast.

I will see how we go.

Cheers Steve.
