G & L,see if they do the gas injection systems for the 1FZ-FE,these are the ducks nuts apparently, saw a conversion done on a statesman and it performed and ran like it was on unleaded,it has a high pressure pump in the bay to feed the high pressure LPG to the gas injectors, then electronically injected into the chamber, only downfall is it is expensive, the stato conversion was $5500.something to think about anyway cheers Paul

Had my Toyota V6 4Runner converted to Direct Injection LPG at the end of April this year. After a few teething problems and its first free service 1000 Km later, I have nothing but praise for the system. I`m geting better mileage on LPG than on Petrol which has a 70 litre tank installed where the spare wheel used to be.
Had to take it in yesterday as one of the techs went an did something on the laptop that caused me some embarrasing moments. It started on gas instead of petrol first thing in the mornng and then stalled as I went to drive off up the road. Then found that I was getting 100 Km before the first LED light went out whereas I was perviously getting 160 Km before the 1st LED light went out.
Now been fixed properly by the head technician and running like a dream. Idles at 750 RPM on both LPG and petrol. On cold start runs on petrol, then when coolant temp gets to 40 degrees C, it switches over to LPG. Very happy chappy now. Cost me $4200 and with the $3000 state and federal rebate ended up costing $1200. well worth the expense.
Just make sure your vehicle has an oxygen sensor in the catalytic convertor, other wise you cant use the direct injection system.

Is your 4Runner the V6? Was there much of a price difference between the Direct Injection and old type?

Hi Northy. As you probably have gatherd, I am based in Perth and it seems some states have different rebate system . Over here the Federal Government gives us a $2000 rebate and the WA State government gives us a $1000 rebate.. And in answer to your question my 4runne rhas the 3.0 litre V6 motor.

The whole system which was installed way back at the end of April this year cost $4180 less $3000 equals $1180 was the net figure I paid. I dont know what make the sytem is other than its the new Direct Injection system and its impossible to tell if its running on LPG or Petrol. The company that did it was Gas Power Australia which is nation wide. The extra $1180 was monery well spent, and apart from some minor teething problems to begin with, the system is now working brillianty. Hope that helps .

To be honest, I`m not sure what the make of the system is, but by hell all I know is that its good. It was done by Gas Power Australia her in Perth. The Feds gave ne $2000 and the WA sate Gov gave me the $1000.

Thank you for your replies I have settled on Impco open loop system. The kit on its own is $1890.00 including GST. fitting is on top.
