The Idler Pulley on my 1HZ Diesel Seized today, can I just buy a new bearing to put in it or do I have to get the whole thing.
If any one out there could help it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
David

I presume you are talking about the A/C idler pulley or the timing belt idler pulley???
If its the timing belt one you have to replace the whole lot. If its the A/C one you should be able to purchase a complete after market one. Some you can replace the bearing and some you can't.

Hi Dave,
Replaced
mine the other day. Pull off the pulley and press the bearing out with a socket in the vice. Any bearing place will have one. Approx $8.
Cheers.

Had the same prob with my 4runner --- just remove it and have a look at it - it may have a welded plate so you can not access the bearing easily - If you are On the tools - removing the cover will be a simple process - and then just tack it back into place when BRG replacement has been done. BRG should not cost more than $10 - if its easily removed - then i suggest you buy a second one as idler brgs are always the first to go especially if you like muddy
water

Thanks Ozboc,
I am pulling it apart today and will see what l have to do?
It has done 405000 km, so it has done ok. I think it was the last mud hole that l got stuck in done the damage as you stated. I will get a spare as
well as you never know about these thing as soon as you start replacing parts how long they will last.
Thanks, David
