LPG and Petrol switching problem for LC100

Hi, recently I owned a LC100 V8 with Impco LPG conversion.
I am experiencing problem switching from GAS/Petrol to Petrol/GAS - when I flick the gas/petrol switch the engine stops. then to start the engine, I have to press the accelerator while turning the key.
Does anyone knows this problem or experienced similar one?
The LPG conversion was done Feb 2006 according to the LPG conversion plate under the bonnet.

When switching from Petrol to LPG you should be able to switch straight over (provided trans is in neutral or
park). If the engine stalls it should start again easily.
However, when switching from LPG back to Petrol it is advisable to (if you have the 3way switch) switch to midway between LPG and Petrol so that all the residual gas between the converter and mixer is used up. Then as the engine 'dies' switch on through to Petrol.
The reason you have to hold the accel down in your case is that LPG and Petrol do not mix and there is residual LPG in the head of the motor.
All of what I have said is what was told to me when I had my 80 series converted to LPG using an Impco system.

So you think it's not a real problem with this LPG/Petrol control?

I agree,
I had a petrol/gas cruiser and same as described, The motor needs air to mix with the fuel to ignite, If the motor is full of petrol as
well as the residual gas there's not enough room for air.
As previously described with a three way switch, what I did was switch over to off/centre, and drove until it began to die (only a couple of seconds) then switch to petrol/gas.
This was in a carby motor and may not be applicable to modern jobbie, but that's what I did to avoid "flooding"(there's a term you never hear any more!).
Perhaps the best thing to do is allow a few seconds with the switch in the neutral position while engine is running and flick over before it stops, may have to practise so you get a sense of timing, and allow the motor to burn what fuel is in the system before completing change over.

not sure if this guy can help you but worth a try.
i am thinking of doing a conversion on my prado (dec 99) and he gave me good advice. he has a business that does the conversions. one of the other guys on exploroz gave me his details from when he got his done.
