Got my Patrol on Saturday and so far I like it. I noticed it doesn't have a turbo timer.......does it need one?

Best sub $200 insurance against cooked turbo bearings I can come up with.....
I was brought up on the land and drove many TD vehicles - valued in the hundreds of thousands of dollars - ALWAYS idled them down
At the end of the day its up to the individual :-)
FYI - use the Bogaard/ARB one for Patrols with dual tanks - damn easy to install and no issues with dual
tank setup that others find with some TT's:-)

If they were needed then manufactures would be fitting them as standard to new vehicles.
New generation oils and bearing material mean its no longer a requirement.
If it worries you then just let the car idle for a minute or two after a long drive before switching off.
Others have posted about the illegalities of leaving a car locked and running whilst unattended???
I personally would also not leave my car idling whilst on the handbrake alone and unattended.
Lastly if it was an issue causing turbo damage to any brand I would think we would see a lot of posts on here about the problem and we don't!

I'm jealous Mate !
if I ever ger off my rrr's, and sell the Navara I will probably get one of these.
You shouold have strong trouble free motoring for the next 10 years !
Look at things this way, why get a timer ? You can do most of your turbo "wind down", on the go simply by changing your driving habits, just a little.
Golden rule is never just pull up, ( from highway speed, or working the motor hard ) and just switch off .
I would actually go for something like a pyrometer, from thermoguard.com and you can actually see what temp you are running at.
Last dyno check post turbo temp was 585-590c, under load, and that is considered in range ( although on the high side )
Never put one in the Navara yet, ,,, because I have been contemplating getting rid if it for the last 2 years, but its such a strong vehicle. I am also waiting fro the right replacemant to come up ,,,
Cheers Mate
Bucky
