Caravan Interior

The interior of a caravan can provide a feeling of comfort and satisfaction as long as this space is utilised wisely. Manufacturers know this and that’s why they carefully design interior layouts

Any suggestions for a portable airconditioning unit suitable for a 16' pop top.

True, do you mean portable as in removeable from the van...or just a unit to intall permanently in the van.

I have a pengini portable unit and wouldnt recomment you use it in a van, they take up quite a large amount of space and not all that efficient.

I have used a portable split system to cool and 30" ISO containiner, evap in the office and the condenser on flexbile lines outside and this was amazing. But I believe expensive!!!!

But I have been recommended and done some research that if you want to intall one permanently...then go for a good quality inverter split system. Seems to be the go..the are half the cost of a 'caravan' system and work for better.

I am also interested in installing a aircon system into a goldstream camper trailer if possible, dont know if its been done before but any thing is possible,, anyone any ideas...

has photos of a split system in a 1998 Jayco swan. I have a similar van and thought about doing this but think I will have to find another solution to the heat..... cheers mick

I have just "temporarily" installed a Kelvinator 5000 btu unit from the Goodguys $259.00 into a 16f foot poptop....I have mounted it thru a rear side window with using chains and turnbuckles from the top side.. ..with a korflute "template" around it untill I can make up a more permanent spacer.
As it only weighs 24kg and the noise level is only 60 db..I am happy with the result...I intend to demount it and carry it in the rear of my 4WD when moving to other camps..or when bush camping etc.
It looks surprisngly OK and by making up a removable template I have not had to hack into the vans structure etc.
Maybe I could have photos tomorrow if any wants to the actual installation..rather than interprete my description.
